Joan is a retired journalist with a background in social work who writes to find calm in an off-balance world. She believes writing in a supportive community like WCC without fear of criticism is a path to deep creative and personal fulfilment.

Working with WCC since 2022, she has facilitated a range of workshops in Toronto and the South Georgian Bay area, including community health centres, libraries and social service agencies for seniors.

Joan also wrote for many years in workshops run by Amherst Writers and Artists, the group created by founder Pat Schneider, and she trained as an AWA workshop facilitator in 2020.
