Mélanie St-Jean

Volunteer Facilitator

Mélanie St-Jean (elle/she/her)
Dosquet, Québec

Mélanie is a writer, ethnologist, long-distance walker, and community facilitator. She is fascinated by the ways people make sense of their lives through memory, place, and story, and by the relationships that connect us to the territories we inhabit.

As co-founder of the Escuminac Pitlands Project, an ecological restoration initiative on the Acadian coast of New Brunswick, Mélanie combines storytelling, stewardship, and community engagement. Through writing circles, walking, and conversation, she creates welcoming spaces where participants can explore their voices, deepen their sense of belonging, and discover the transformative power of shared stories. She joined Writers’ Collective of Canada as a facilitator in 2026 to help expand French-language programming in Quebec and New Brunswick.
