Mya Moniz

Volunteer Facilitator

Mya Moniz (she/her)
Peel Region, Ontario

Mya Moniz is a Community Worker and a Master’s Candidate for Adult Education and Community Development. Mya started facilitating for the WCC in September 2024 following a former collaboration with “My Story, My Power,” a non-clinical therapeutic, Black youth-focused storytelling program she developed at REST Centres. For Mya, being a WCC facilitator means staying involved with her community and encouraging grassroots-led healing and advocacy for everyone. Mya is highly passionate about the power of writing, stories, and creativity as a vessel for emotional processing. She further relishes opportunity to facilitate productive thoughts and conversations in and through her work.
Outside of her professional life, Mya enjoys reading, puzzles, video games, and (surprise!) writing. If you can find Mya outside of her cave, it will likely be in a coffee shop or petting a stranger’s dog.
