Morrie is a former federal public servant, with a strong interest in rural and community development, both in Canada and abroad.

He has a wide range of policy, program and corporate experience acquired over 30 years in positions related to environmental issues and sustainable development. He holds a BSc (Agr) and an MSc, both from McGill University.

His commitment to community development was influenced by his work on agriculture and rural development projects in Africa and Southeast Asia. Since settling in Ottawa in 1990, he has maintained that commitment, serving on Boards and committees and volunteering for numerous not-for-profit organizations. He believes that we all have a role to play in supporting our community and is currently an active volunteer at a local foodbank.
