WCC – Public – VIRTUAL – Writing the Winter Solstice

December 20 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm ET
The tradition of celebrating the winter solstice features community gathering and storytelling on the eve of the longest night of the year. For Indigenous cultures across Turtle Island, the winter solstice is an important time of ceremony; an invitation to slow down and reflect. In Persian traditions, the name for the night is Yalda, signifying a ceremony about the renewal of the sun and victory of light over darkness.“Yalda” is a Syriac word meaning “birth,” and the festival celebrates the eve of the birth of Mithra, the sun god.
Join us in sharing stories on the longest night of the year; lightening the darkness with community connection.
